Mission Statement
The Welsh Society of Oregon develops and perpetuates Welsh heritage, culture, and music in Oregon. We strive to sustain pride in being Welsh, support for learning about Wales and the Welsh language, and exploration of Welsh-American issues by our members and for others in the community.
History
The Welsh Society of Oregon was originally founded in 1907 as the Portland Cambrian Society. It adopted the name Welsh Society of Portland in 2007 on the 100th anniversary of its founding. In 2015 we became the Welsh Society of Oregon to serve then entire state and southwestern Washington.

The Gwaddol Group
The Welsh Society of Oregon’s endowment fund – The Gwaddol Group* – is now fully official! The WSOR Board just approved guidelines to steer the fund as it aims toward raising $25,000. This threshold dollar amount allows entry into the Oregon Community Foundation and accesses their investment growth potential and management oversight. What will The Gwaddol Group provide when award money is available? The guidelines spell out uses such as scholarships to study the Welsh language here and abroad, support for individuals conducting Welsh research, or support for development of music or art with a Welsh connection. Please consider donating to the endowment fund as you plan your budget or update your will. Remember your donations are tax deductible as WSOR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We need your infusion and your enthusiasm as we grow The Gwaddol Group for the benefit of all things Welsh in Oregon! Contact any Board member for more info or to make a donation. Diolch yn fawr!
